IASTM Workshop  |  

Course Overview

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, or IASTM, is the use of specialized tools to perform  myofascial or soft tissue work. It is another treatment option that a trained practitioner may use to resolve pain and tightness. The technique utilizes a specifically designed stainless steel instrument which is used to assess and treat areas exhibiting soft tissue dysfunction. IASTM enables the clinicians to effectively break down scar tissue, fascial restrictions and adhesions and change muscle tonus. By the end of the course tissue dysfunctions that are amenable to treatment through the use of this modal.

    Dr. Rajkannan.P is an Associate Professor and Pain Specialist who holds a specialty in Dry Needing Technique. With about 13 years of experience in physical therapy field, he has some exceptional success stories in treating patients with musculoskeletal ailments. He is the Founder of Dry Needling Association, by which he teaches and trains Dry Needling Technique to physiotherapists. Till now, he has taught dry needling technique to about 250 PTs in India. Currently he is authoring a book on "Dry Needling Technique" and is also actively involved in various research activities. Apart from dry needling, he is expert in Trigger Point Release, Muscle Energy Technique, IASTM, Anatomy Train Concepts, Taping and Muscle Palpation Skills.

    Mohamed Kassim

    Mr. Mohamed Kassim is a physiotherapist with over 14 years of experience. He is currently a physiotherapist and Manual Therapist working in Brunei. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy in 1999 and pursued his higher studies in Orthopedic Manual therapy obtaining a Manual therapy certification from Curtin University, Australia in 2007. One of his interests is Cranio Mandibular and cervical region. He has now opened an academy named MK Academy of Cranio-Mandibular & Cervical Therapeutics, which soon will be certifying therapist to specialize in TMJ, Cervical including Headache & Migraine management. Mr. Mohamed also conducts workshops on IASTM and TMD management in India and Malaysia.
